Building Personality

Sunga Khawlum
A keen observer can easily recognize the personality of a person by the way he, she talks, tone of voice, the food habits, dress and warmth towards the people that come across. These actions reflect the behavior of a person in totality.
A person acquires habit and behavior right from childhood from his/her parents, teachers, classmates and other associates. Habits have a cumulative effect on personality. If the number of good habits are more in our society than the bad habits, oh maaan!..How pleasing environment it would be! A pleasing personality is easy to recognize but hard to define. A pleasing personality makes a person successful with magnetic attractions and that is why people’s knowledge is more important than product knowledge. That’s why people do not loose their attractive personality regardless of their aged because it flows from their facial expression and inner mind. Wearing a fancy dress is not an important as having a pleasing expression. This expression is resultant of attitude and behavior. Our relationship without a good personality makes life miserable because life is like an echo. If a child is taught to recite “FE DAI RAWH” in an open valley, the echo received back shall certainly be the same. On the other hand if the child is trained to recite “Mummy I love you” the child will receive the same echo Mummy I love you. This way the child will learn the lesson that life is like an echo.
Secondly, we have to learn how to appreciate people in the little thing they do. If a common man saying that if we are good to others we are the best to ourselves. Sincere appreciation is the choicest gift of one can give to a deserving person. This is one thing that I feel we should start working on this.
Lastly, let me put some attributes of a good person even though they are hundreds. To be a better person, we must resolve to be tender with the young compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with striving and tolerant with weak and ignorant. We often hear such statement that such as such person is lucky because if he touches dirt it turns to gold or he is unlucky as what ever as what ever he touches it turns into dirt. But, it’s not true. If we analyze the lucky person we will realize such a person is doing something right in each transaction while unlucky person is repeating the same mistake in each transaction. We must remember that mere practices do not make a person perfect but it is the perfect practice that makes a person perfect. Many people do good work with the aim of reward in their mid but the one who does good work selfishly, becomes of habit and is deserving in true sense. Cultivation of a habit is like digging the field. It takes time and had to grow within. A person who is honest and if he lies he gets caught easily. Reverse is in case of dishonest. Therefore, let your good personality within you to be use and not get wasted.
